PROBLEM: Sometimes I don’t have the right sized container for a space.

SOLUTION: Think of the leftover space in a drawer or shelf as a container. Leftover space is the space that is created between organizing boxes or baskets and the size of the drawer. In the picture, the left hand side of the drawer doesn’t have it’s own metal container but it is the perfect space for larger plastic serving spoons.

HINT: Differently sized organizing boxes or baskets can be configured to make differently sized and shaped leftover spaces to fit your needs.

Hi Susan, I’m Sonya from Ann Arbor and I love your blog!

Just wanted to comment on this one. I recently reorg’d my kitchen utensils and instead of buying some divided containers (believe me, I wanted to! I spent an afternoon drooling on containerstore.com), I used some plastic carryout containers left over from chinese takeout. They fit perfectly in my drawer and are slick looking in black.

Just sharing….warm regards!!

    Sonya, Thanks for the feedback!

In terms of the kitchen reorganizing, way to use what you already have! The black takeout containers are a great idea. I love it that they fit perfectly. Thanks so much for sharing!
