Travel – Did I forget something?!

PROBLEM: Whenever I pack for a trip I’m stressed that I will forget something.

SOLUTION: Make a list of the things that you take on trips. Before the trip add things that pop into your mind. After the trip add things that you wish you would have brought. Keep this list in your suitcase or in a place that makes sense to you.

HINT: On the list have another category for speciality items that only go with you on certain trips (special keys, rabies certificate for pet).

Delegate

PROBLEM: I have so much to do and not enough time in the day.

SOLUTION: Look through your list to see what you can delegate to someone else. Perhaps you can’t delegate a whole task but you can delegate part of a task. For example, maybe someone else can wash, dry, and fold the laundry and you only need to pretreat and put it away.

HINT: Remember that the delegated tasks might not be done exactly the way that you would do them but that is okay. In the end, you’ll have more time for other things.

What Makes It through Your Front Door?

RROBLEM: I love to buy things but they just add to the clutter when I bring them home.

SOLUTION: Make a list of what you are going to buy and buy what is on your list. When you put something on your list make sure you think through the whole process of what needs to happen in order for that item to function in your house. Here are some questions to ask:
1. Do you have a home for that item?
2. If something occupies the space where the new item
is going to go, what will happen to the old item.
3. Do you have time for the new item (assembling, dealing with packaging and little pieces, deconstruction the old item)?

HINT: Stay out of stores where your impulse is to buy.
